How we cover tool news
Tool news moves fast and a lot of it is hype. We cover launches that change what a tradesperson should buy: new platforms, real upgrades to tools crews use every day, and price changes. Each story lists the published specs, prices and ship dates with a link to the source. We don't call a tool "tested." We don't run a lab; what we publish about a tool comes from our crews using it on real jobs, in our field notes.

How a launch turns into a deal
- Launch: the new model ships at full price, often in a kit.
- Months after: the older model it replaces gets marked down or bundled into free-tool kits.
- Black Friday: the newer model may show up in buy-more-save-more or free-tool promos. Black Friday 2026 is November 27.
If you don't need the newest feature, the outgoing model on a deal is often the better buy. Watch Current deals and the 2026 deal log.
How to read a launch story
- "Available" vs "announced": an announced tool may be months away. Look for the ship date.
- Kit vs bare tool: launch prices are often for kits. Check what's in the box.
- Platform: a new tool on a battery platform you don't own costs more than its price tag.
