How to tell a good deal from a filler deal

  1. Price the free tool honestly. A "free" tool you'd never buy is worth $0 to you.
  2. Check the battery size. Kits with 2Ah packs look cheap but run out quickly on saws and grinders.
  3. Read the eligible list. Free-tool promos only cover certain model numbers, and the list can change partway through.
  4. Watch the cart. On most free-tool promos, the discount shows up only after both items are in the cart. Make sure it applies before you pay.
  5. Keep the receipt with the serial numbers. You'll need them for warranty claims. See Register and track.

Black Friday 2026 timeline

  • Black Friday: Friday, November 27, 2026 (Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26).
  • Early deals: big-box stores usually start rolling out holiday tool deals in early to mid November. Our live deals grid lists each one with its dates.
  • Cyber Monday: Monday, November 30, 2026.
  • After: some free-tool promos run into January, like the Lowe's DeWalt offer listed through January 20, 2027.

Safety and buying notes

  • Buy batteries from the brand or an authorized store. Knock-off packs can skip protection circuits.
  • Don't mix brands with battery adapters on high-draw tools. Most brands say adapters can void the warranty.
