RIDGID buying guide
There are really two RIDGIDs. The orange-and-gray cordless power tools sold at The Home Depot are made by TTI under license. The pipe wrenches, threaders and drain machines that plumbers know come from Ridge Tool Company. This page is about the power tools and the one thing that makes them different: the free Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA). It is a buying guide, not a crew review.

How the Lifetime Service Agreement works
The LSA is the reason many people pick RIDGID. Done right, it means free repairs and replacement batteries on eligible tools for as long as you own them. Done wrong (missed deadline, lost receipt), you only have the 3-year warranty.
Step by step:
- Buy at The Home Depot. The LSA applies to RIDGID tools bought there.
- Photograph the receipt and every serial number before you leave the parking lot. The kit box, the tool, each battery and the charger all have their own serial.
- Register within 90 days at register.ridgidpower.com. You need the serial numbers for every item and a copy of the receipt.
- Save the confirmation email in a folder with the receipt photo.
- For service, use the RIDGID service center locator or call RIDGID support with your registration details.
What is excluded
RIDGID lists exclusions, including free or promotional items, accessory batteries and chargers bought separately, generators, pressure washers, wet/dry vacs, storage and hand tools. Promo "free tool" items are a common surprise: the free tool may not get the LSA even if the kit does. Read the LSA terms for your exact model.
How to buy RIDGID without overpaying
- Home Depot runs RIDGID kit promos and "free tool with battery" events several times a year; our deals page lists the live ones.
- Because the LSA can cover batteries on eligible tools, a kit's packs can be worth more over time than the same packs from another brand. Factor that in.
- RIDGID 18V batteries are not compatible with Milwaukee or Ryobi, even though TTI makes all three.

Safety note
Battery replacement under the LSA only helps if you store packs properly. Keep lithium-ion packs out of hot truck cabs in summer, and stop using any pack that is swollen, cracked or smells burnt. See battery basics.
Our take so far
We don't run RIDGID as our main platform. For a homeowner or a new tradesperson who will actually do the paperwork, the LSA is a strong value. Our register and track guide has the checklist.
FAQ
Do I have to register RIDGID tools to get the lifetime service?
Yes. You must register within 90 days of purchase with proof of purchase and the serial numbers. Without registration, you have the standard 3-year limited warranty.
Does the RIDGID Lifetime Service Agreement cover batteries?
It covers batteries that come with eligible tools and kits. Accessory batteries and chargers bought separately are excluded. Check the terms for your model.
Can I get the LSA on RIDGID tools bought on Amazon or used?
The LSA applies to tools bought at The Home Depot with proof of purchase. Used or third-party purchases generally don't qualify.
Do RIDGID batteries fit Ryobi or Milwaukee tools?
No. All three are TTI brands, but each uses its own battery.
